When my mom left my stepdad and we moved back to Boise we lived in a small trailer on my grandparent's property. I would be babysat by my grandma while my mom worked. She would often have me do odd jobs around the place. I recall one time she instructed me to take this certain egg and bury it out around the yard somewhere. She was very stern about me not breaking the egg. I am a very curious person and so, of course, I had to break the egg and see why she had instructed me not to. I had no way of knowing that the egg had been in the egg basket for weeks and hat rotted. I rarely moved so fast as I did in burying that egg. The putrid smell was overpowering.

@celticeagle *shrug* Kids are curious. Now, we know why we shouldn't break an old egg.

You learned a lesson not to disobey your grandmother again.

@celticeagle I know what you mean since some of us like to push the envelope with older relatives.

@Deepizzaguy .......I didn't want my grandmother to lose faith in me. I wanted her to always feel that I would do what she told me. I usually did.

I never told her. Just buried it and went back inside.
