We are writing a new Constitution in my country.

It has several progresive laws although for the moment they are suggestions that will have to be accepted by all of us. Just a week ago, the law accepted same sex marriage and adoption by same sex partners. Now they are talking about a law acception abortion. I don´t know which will be the final terms though. There are many people against it. I still think that some people should be punished more severely. Rapists go about free and they only have to sign every day. That is absurd. I´d place them in jail. I am following with interest the national news. A new generation of people is governing our country.

During this new age, everything is changing. Do I approve of certain things? Most of the new laws are garbage.

The constitution we have now was written under Pinochet´s time. Although many changes have been made, we hate it.

@marguicha It makes me angry, the citizens of a country have very little choice( if any at all)

I just read that the new Constitution is being written as we speak. I understand that everyone gets to vote, not just the two legislative branches. Is that true?

A Con change is very complicated. I hope the change would be for the best interest of everyone in your country.

In most countries, the population must vote to modify the constitution and a large majority is needed. I agree that rapists must go to jail and stay there for a very long time.

@LadyDuck The other Constitution was written by a very intelligent man that was for Pinochet. Citizens had nothing to do with it even if it had some good parts. There have been changes in that Constitution along the years after Pinochet, but people hated it no matter what. And many things have changed in over 30 years.

The new President is very young and he probably has very liberal views.

It is a huge task to create a new constitution. And I agree that rapists should be jailed.

There are lots of laws that are only in paper. We even have laws to protect pets. Yet there are still people cruel with animals.

They have to sign every day while justice moves slowly if they do. Meanwhile they can do lots of harm.

@Sojourn Right now, in my country, it seems that there are not strong punishments for rape. But I am sure that that will change.

@marguicha Hmm, so justice delayed justice denied, that's mostly the case here.
