Music You've Probably Never Heard #7

When you are making your way around the Internet searching for music that is unique, good, and new, it is not uncommon for me to come upon a few that make you scratch your head a bit. "How did it never make radio?" Or even why has hardly anyone heard it? Kat Spina's Play It Loud is one of those songs I would not be surprised at all to hear on the radio. Yet on Spotify Kat Spina doesn't have a large audience, and even this song has had under 7000 plays. On YouTube it's only gotten a few spins as well. Worth a listen if you can. Here's the Spotify link, but if you don't have Spotify, which is free by the way and a great place to set up playlists, I can drop the YouTube link in the comments.

Your right, I've never heard of it and I've never heard of her. Have you heard of Sarah McLachlan? She's very good.

Oh, Sarah? Of course. I would almost say who hasn't? She's quite famous. And yes, I like her very much.

@porwest Yes, she's fantastic. I love nearly all of her songs. I first got to know about her because she had songs on the soundtrack to the TV series Due South about a Canadian Mountie who moves from Canada to Chicago to join forces with a Chicago cop called Ray Vecchio. After Doctor Who, that is my next favourite series. Sarah's song "Possession" was used in the 2 part story 'Victoria's Secret' where an ex-con who also happens to be very beautiful, seduces Benton Fraser and then sets him up for jewel theft!

@sharonelton I can't remember where I first heard her, but she definitely had "that thing." It's a shame we don't hear much about her now these days, but certainly her songs do still get a considerable amount of radio airplay.

Catherine Howe had the entire package. I still don't get it. Tons of great songs, a beautiful voice. Thanks for YouTube!

Even I had never heard of her. Had to look her up. But I agree from what I have seen in a couple of her songs. Amazing talent.

It is still very difficult to achieve fame, and sometimes getting the word out can be equally as difficult. But certainly there are more opportunities now than there were before when only music executives were the ones making the decision of what was worth listening to.

She really does, and I hope she starts to get more attention. She would be one that deserves it. The sad thing about songs like this is that if say, Dua Lipa or Lady Gaga or someone else did this song it would probably be an instant hit. So much of what is classified as "hit" music has more to do with who sings it than what they sing. I always find that a bit sad.
