Unexpected Shopping Trip

We ended up going to McComb yesterday for the unexpected shopping trip for a new lead for the dog, Duke since his broke Saturday night. I usually keep a spare but I didn't not have a good one here, only a lightweight one. So the main purpose of the trip was to get a new lead to put Duke back on his runner so he could have some freedom in the yard. I added a short grocery trip since we were out of a few things. My hubby needed copper wire for one of his projects and something from Harbor Freight. I decided to run into Dirt Cheap while he was in Harbor Freight. They are next door to each other. He found what he needed and was waiting for me in the van when I came out. I found some cute display stands that I can use in the boutique for my Farmasi products. They were only $3.30 each so I got 4 of them. That was all that they had in the style that I picked out. I also found a couple of pairs of sandals. They both had a cushy bottom and that was what I was looking for since that type of sole works best when working in the boutique. So I found a couple of great buys. I got out of there for under $30. Next, the hubby complained that he was hungry so we decided to go to the newly opened Magoo's. They serve chicken fingers and chicken sandwiches, pretty much the same as Raisin' Canes that originated in Baton Rouge, LA. We got a dinner for two and split it. The chicken fingers came with french fries, homemade potato chips, and garlic bread. To our surprise, the chicken fingers were much better than Raisin' Canes!! We both enjoyed it and I can't wait to take my grand daughter, Payton to eat there. She loves Raisin' Canes and could eat there every day of the week. Next we hit Walmart. Hubby wanted to look at a cell phone that they had in stock. Mine is about to go dead and he found this one (a Samsung) at a great price and features that I need. We ended up getting the phone and found his copper wire in the craft section. He went to the car to read up on the phone and I got groceries. But, first I went to the garden section. I found roses on sale and picked out a pretty red rose but couldn't find another one in better shape so I switched varieties and got another pretty red rose. I checked out and loaded the groceries in the car. On the way out of the parking lot I asked to go to the garden center at Lowes, which is across the street. I promised to just run through quickly and I would be back in under 15 minutes. Hubby asked me what kind of plant was on the display where he let me out of the car. It was a bougainvillea and on sale for $28.99. As I was browsing, I noticed some of these plants on the clearance rack. They were all still blooming too! These were not three feet tall like the other ones but a good 1 ft. tall. I picked one out and it rang up for only $4.00. Win! Needless to say we were both tired when we got home. I put the groceries up and we had a frozen pizza for dinner. I was glad I got a quickie while I was at the store! That's how my Sunday went! I am slowly but surely catching up after losing my day being at the farmer's market. Do you have a Magoo's Restaurant in your city? Do you like it? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

What a great day that would have been. Bougainvilleas are pretty tough and seem to grow really quickly. I hope yours does.

I hope it survives. I did not have any luck with the hibiscus last year.

@kareng That's a shame. Hibiscus are usually quite hardy too.

@JudyEv Yep! I was told to cut at ground for winter and it never popped back up. That was my big 4 ft. one. The others were 1-2 ft. and still in pots and they didn't make it either--and we are supposed to have mild winters here in the south.

Never heard of Magoos but glad it was good. Sounds like a very busy day but some good deals. I am going to look at roses when I go to town Thursday.

Thanks for the update. You were certainly busy. We don't have any Magoo's or Raisin' Canes.

Keep your eyes open, they may pop up there soon. I know Raisin' Canes (named after the owner's dog (who has passed away now) but they do a lot for the community in Baton Rouge. Magoo's was actually established before Raisin' Canes. I asked my husband, "I wonder wno copied off of whom?" while we were eating!
