Well, It Finally Happened

Finally, March 21st got here and the housing inspection took place. She was here for a total of about two minutes and didn't even come upstairs.
The reason I was so nervous about this inspection is twofold. One is that if we didn't pass this inspection we could be evicted and be homeless. Rent here is so out of sight that we could not afford a place and we don't even have a car to sleep in. This possibility preys on my mind a lot. Section 8 is a godsend to us. The other thing is that I don't go downstairs and my daughter and grandson spend a good portion of their time down there. They have their different projects and tend to leave things out on the dining room table and the coffee table. The first inspection failure was due to clutter. I can't help my daughter to clean much because of my arthritis and other issues. She has been taught but she has a learning disability(not a bad one and I am the only one aware of it, unless you are around her a lot you wouldn't notice.) and doesn't really care I don't think. So, I have had her concentrate on one room each day. I talked to her about each room and gave her a list to check off. That way it isn't overwhelming for her. I knew each room had some issues but not too serious. I hope she will learn how to take pride in keeping the place clean and tidy now.
Anyway, the inspector said, "everything looks great." I knew she couldn't possibly find anything wrong but still, the anxiety had been acute due to my sensitivity to it. Glad it is all over for another year. I told my daughter I was really proud of her and that she should feel proud too.

I am glad too. I try to be a good mom to her. She has come a long way but still has some problems. I just know I am not going to be around for ever and I need to instill in her how to go forward after I am gone.

I had a mobile home once. I sometimes wish I had bought a home back when I was making good money.

Partially my fault we failed the first time around because I didn't realize the issues downstairs. I am very relieved.

I am so glad all went well. I have not rented in almost 50 years and my memories of it are not pleasant. I know I am blessed to own my own home. Now living with my daughter at her house has been a revelation. We all have our own ways of doing things.

You just never know where their heads are at totally. I hate the anxiety each time cause I know we will usually pass.
