Secretariat won the Triple Crown in 1973 and still holds it to this day. He averaged 37.7 mph in the Triple Crown races which were enough to set a new record in each of the three races. He won The Belmont Stakes by 31 lengths. He also holds another crown. As being the only sports celebrity to be featured on the covers of three prominent weekly national magazines. Those were: Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, and, TIME.
This was unprecedented for any sports figure and he still holds that record.
Secretariat is said to be one of the greatest racehorses of all time and is the ninth winner of the American Triple Crown.
Do you watch the Triple Crown(Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes) starting in May? I think it is the one and only sports event I do watch.

Not to take away from Secretariat but Joe Namath was on all three covers in 1972 and several other athletes have accomplished it too.
I remember watching those races on TV. I believe Secretariat was one of the greatest racehorses ever.
I don't really watch anymore. I will read about the Triple Crown but it doesn't have the same appeal to me as it once did.

My grandfather liked to watch the races on TV, and according to my older sister, that's why he was buried out by Woodbine (Toronto horse race place).

I don't watch them much anymore either. Not sure why either. Have lost interest in so many things.
