The Oscars (aka Academy Awards) are tonight. I think it is the 74th year of them. My ex always rolled his eyes at me because I watch almost no new movies but I always tune in for the red carpet interviews (and to see the dresses) and watch the first few awards before I have to go to sleep.
I've read that one of the hosts, Amy Schumer, and actor Sean Penn want Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy to appear virtually tonight at the ceremony. I know that entertainers are known to be political and I absolutely am amazed at Zelenskyy and the brave Ukrainian people. . . but I think that he probably has better and more important things to do.
Anyway will you be watching?

No, I won't. Never did like that kind of thing. But, I'm sure it'll be interesting.

No. High school drama wasn't my thing even when I was in HS.
Just a bunch of clowns all saying look at me.

I will watch the reviews tomorrow. There was a time when I would watch award shows but I grew out of it,

No, I hate that kind of thing. So very much wasted money on dresses and hoopla--for what? Because they are famous? I would be more impressed if they all got together and donated the money to Ukraine or another cause. I just read a news article saying that there are some of the stars who are boycotting the Oscars due to racial issues, no one is nominated that isn't white? And some are backing what Penn wants. It could be a very different evening than some of them are used to. Time will tell.
Please don't take offense that I hate this kind of thing, we all have our preferences and I know I am different!

Yes, I watched from 5:30 pm to 11:15 pm. Saw the Red Carpet and the whole awards show. I normally don't watch (used to always watch in the 60s and 70s in the days of the BIG stars); but I wanted to see what West Side Story did (I didn't like the remake) and to see if Jessica Chastain got an Oscar for portraying Tammy Faye Bakker -- she was outstanding; and yes, she won! I wrote a post about the ceremony.
