Originally named "A Bit of Myself", "The Name of the Game" was released in 1977. It was influenced by the laid-back California sound and by the music of Stevie Wonder.
In this song, the singer wants to know if the object of his/her affection feels the same way: "Would you laugh at me, if I said I care for you?..."
The tune was #1 in the UK and #9 on the US Adult Contemporary (Billboard) chart, #12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #16 on the US CashBox Top 100 Singles.

ABBA I used to listen to their hit songs but the first time hearing this. However, hearing the tune I know it is from ABBA, that patented sound and voice.

I was SO into ABBA as a kid. I liked this song and thought the music of the verses sounded slightly spooky.
