I had a great idea for a post, but I lost it

I remember thinking earlier today that I'd come up with a great idea for a post. Now, I cannot, for the life of me, remember what the idea was. This sort of thing happens now and then. It will probably come back to me a minute after I log off. Has this ever happened to you?

I used to keep a digital recorder on my nightstand so I could dictate my thoughts if I woke up in the middle of the night with a great idea. The only time I actually used it, the message I left was, "Don't forget to write about this great idea I just had when I get up in the morning." Needless to say, at that point, I gave up.

I write my discussions in Word, then cut and paste. As soon as I think of an idea, I jot it down at the bottom of the Word file. I still forget some though.

Always! But my head is always swimming with stuff . . . ideas get mixed in and lost in there pretty easily .

The caboose falls off my train of thought a lot. Heck, the whole train derails on occasion.

I don't get many ideas to write but if I happen to take a good picture I usually think of something to say about it.

Lovely blue flowers, For that reason I am surrounded by notebooks and when ideas come to me that I won't use right away I just down the main idea and then I know when I look at it I will remember, I hope you remember what your idea was,

Like the fact you've used forget-me-nots to illustrate this, by the way! Did you know the central ring changes from yellow to white after the flower has been pollinated?

@DWDavis Some other plants do this too. Horse chestnut flowers change from yellow to pink

Yes, although I write my discussions in a Word document so if I'm at the computer when I think of it I can quickly jot down the title for future use.

Most of my most brilliant ideas occur at about 4 AM when I am not about to get out of bed and write them down.

Mine usually come to me while I'm driving and are lost by the time I get where I'm going.
