And the 180 in weather continues. Before lunch and it’s already warmer than yesterday. Hey, it’s spring. How about another flower that’s not affected by the weather: a song with “flower” in the title? I’ll bet everyone was waiting for this one. #4: Flowers on the Wall - Statler Brothers As they say in the introduction of the live video (linked below), this was their first Grammy. But probably not the Grammy you’re expecting. This song won in the “Best Contemporary (Rock and Roll) Performance.” I am not kidding. This won a rock and roll Grammy. (So now you know how Jethro Tull got that “heavy metal” Grammy. ) The song that most people think of when the Statler Brothers are mentioned. Someone said it’s in the movie Pulp Fiction (Picky Wedia says Bruce Willis sings the Captain Kangaroo reference). While it’s not my favorite Statler Brothers song, I do love it and still enjoy it. Flowers on the Wall Written by Lew DeWitt Recorded by the Statler Brothers From Flowers on the Wall, 1965 It’s hard to slow this swinger down:

I remember my Dad listening to the Statler Brothers and this song came to my head as I read. Good memories flowing into my crazy mind today, thanks for this again.

The Opry has been on a steady decline over the past 20 years. This may be the final blow.

Yes, counting flowers on the wall... There were times I thought I was playing solitaire with a deck of 51 (not being able to win a game in hours) but I play on my computer now, so I'm pretty sure all 52 cards are available.

I guess it depends on which card is missing. I like my solitaire app on my iPad because you can set it for easy or hard.

@FourWalls Yes, I agree. Of course you have the Oakridge Boys, (whom I have seen in person) but they never had the popularity of the Statlers.

It was a sad day for music when they retired.

That’s a great one, too. I have a friend named Susan who loves the Statlers, but surprisingly that’s not her favorite of theirs.

I love this song. You know what I don't love. Playing solitaire with a deck of 51. It's no fun.

You can always have a ghost card. You know, like that “ghost runner on second” that baseball has adopted over the past two years….

@FourWalls LOL, I remember using ghost runners when we'd play ball as kids and didn't have enough players.

Yesterday we reached 65F as our high. Today, it is 80F and brightly sunny outside. (Our West wall is mostly window so we'll get hot in here unless the house turns on the air conditioner in a little while. That depends on whether Pretty gets too warm or not. Right now it's a nice 74F in the house.)

@FourWalls I was telling Pretty there was supposed to be thunderstorms tonight with some heavy rain. (About 1 inch is expected here.) Thanks. We will.
