On two-week standby

For jury duty.
I have to log on every day after 5 pm (for two weeks) to see if I have to come in or not.
So far I did not have to come in Monday or Tuesday.
Hopefully, I won't have to come in this week and preferably the next.
I thought I may be able to postpone this but I am told that my current status doesn't allow me to do that.
My dad's in the hospital and Passover is coming up so I didn't want to have to deal with jury duty at this time.

I got to do that a couple of years ago. Luckily, I never needed to report for jury duty. I hope you don't need to, either. (In Missouri, if I'd had to report, I would have been paid $50 a day that I was on jury duty. I made more than that per day on my job, so was happy I didn't have to report.)

Even though it's slightly annoying I'd rather log on every day for two weeks and be told not to report than to have to report and potentially even serve.

@lovebuglena If you get called for jury duty, there are some ways you can still get out if it. *shrug* Lots of people don't want to serve as a juror.

My current status doesn't allow me to postpone (and there were a few other words used I can't remember). I guess I should've tried doing that before my jury duty standby started.

@LindaOHio Unfortunately, I have to report on Monday. 8:30 am. Will be a very early wake up for me. Commute is long.

They’re going to try to seat a jury right before Passover? And during Ramadan? And Holy Week? Good luck with that, New York.

Thankfully, to get to the Brooklyn courthouse (if need be) I can go there through Manhattan and then just one R train ride into Brooklyn. Not sure I wanna ride the subway right now, especially if it's a long ride on it.
