It is called Amorphophallus titanum. It grew in my village recently and lasted only for a week! And the smell was outstanding. If you ever smell rotten meat or animal Caracas, it is exactly the same.. A lot of flies came into it

While not wild they do have them in botanic gardens across the US Surprisingly it is really popular with people even buying tickets in order to watch it bloom.

I have never heard of this most unusual plant. It is highly intelligent to capture its food this way.

That is not a pleasant smell. I don't think I would have liked that.

We had/have (not sure if it is still around) in our botanic gardens. It was at least 2 meters tall. It smelt awful.

That doesn't sound very appealing if it smells like rotten meat. Guess I always expect flowers to smell sweet

That sounds horrible! I really wouldn't want a flower that smelt like that in my garden. It looks big too. I don't know how you got near it if it smelt that bad!

I have heard of this unusual flower before! I have been reading the Awake! magazine for years and it has published a number of articles about this very large, very stinky flower.
