Remember the gal from Redding, California who faked her disappearance back in 2016? Well, this evening Dateline did a story on what has happened to her. She was arrested and went to court. She was indicted on 45 counts of mail fraud and several other things. She made a plea deal and will only be charged with 1 count of the mail fraud and one count of defrauding the government. She will have fines and lots of other things to pay. I guess the police spent about $150,000 on her case. Her husband has filed for divorce and he has full custody of their two children. She will be sentenced in July 2022. She could get up to twenty years in jail.

I read all about her, and I remember when it first happened. She's such a narcissist.

I doubt that she will spend 20 years in jail. Six weeks after her arrest, Papini signed a plea deal admitting that she had orchestrated the hoax. She is out from jail from tha past March 9.

Admitting it all will help her sentence. She will be sentenced in July.

@celticeagle - She will get a mild sentence, I am sure. Her lawyer will surely prove that she has mental problems.

Here is the story:
Sherri Papini, the Northern California woman accused of faking her own kidnapping in 2016, was driven by her own "narcissistic behavior" in the hoax, Shasta County Sheriff Michael Johnson told "Good Morning America" on Monday.

I saw that last night on Dateline. Personally, I think she is mentally ill. I mean what normal person would do that? I think she should have to make restitution which will take the rest of her life..but other than as an example not sure what good prison would do.

I recall it too. Thought something was weird about it in the very beginning.
