The end of the label "diet" in the US next year.

I just heard that the FDA in the US has decided to stop the use of labels such as "diet" for a lot of products.
They should, instead have written down clearly what real ingredients are in each product.
I just heard that nutricionists were shocked that children of overweight women were being undernourished because they were eating food that was not meant for them.
I remember that my children always drank whole milk and were slim. But they played, ran and danced the way children used to do then. They were social children and did not only have tablets to talk to.
I hjope that there will be better ways of losing weight in the future. Up to now, many people start to worry when they are facing impending death at a young age.
Have you heard about this? Do you read what is written in labels?

I do check the labels because I have quite a few food allergies (pork and seafood being the most troubling).
I think the “diet” label is going because we crazy Americans think we can eat a Big Mac, super-sized fries, and three apple pies with a DIET soft drink and get thin.

In my country, now everything has to say "high in calories", "High in sodium", "high in sugars" and high in saturated fats". But many people just read the word "chocolate".1 person likes this

Kids back in time did not eat junk food, this is all what they eat now and they they get "diet products" thinking that they will make the miracle. I always read the labels, very carefully and many times I put back the package without buying. As soon as I read "palm oil" or "corn syrup" the products go back on the shelf.

Once I was in the US and a friend of mine suffered from a bad cramp. I remembered that there was orange juice in the fridge and ran down. But I always read labels. It is part of my automatic pilot
The "orange" juice was made with corn syrup and orange flavour and color.

I remember I also looked at some "juices" and none of them had fruits inside. Better to drink plain water.

@LadyDuck Same here. The color is part of a brain wash.

I just read that the amount of obese people in Europe is escaping any control now.

@marguicha More and more are obese here now too - and more and more younger people. I suppose it's good people don't worry so much about being overweight but being so obese isn't healthy. And they seem to insist on wearing tight clothes that show off every roll of fat.

The word "diet" does not really mean anything.

It is very important. But sometimes, ingredients should be explained more.
