The strange things people think

So, back in early January I got a phone call from the rehab hospital they took Viv to. I talked about it here: Now, we were only married for just shy of 5 and a half years, but we had been friends a lot longer. From the early '90s until she moved in, we did a lot of stuff together, despite her not living with me. However, after she did move in, and she started working for Apple, several times Viv had co-workers who would say they saw her with "her mom" at such and such place. Most of the time it was at the grocery store, but maybe a few times other places. Most of the time I stayed in the car while she went in, so they wouldn't see that Viv was a solid 8 inches taller than I am, and most often it looked like more because she pretty normally had one of her hats on. Considering I am only 7 years older... well... yeah. But the best time was something a bit different. My mom had wanted to go to San Marco, which is south of Austin, to the outlet store because she needed some new clothes. That was fine, I was happy to take her. I was also asked by Viv's mom if I could take the niece and two nephews back from visitation, so Joe didn't have to do it. And that was also fine, I was fine with taking them back, except I didn't know where I needed to take them to... Both of these requests were made mid-week, so I didn't have to worry about arranging all this in an hour or so - as sometimes happened with Viv's family. Well, I put my little mental roadmap in my head and realized, I could do a twofer. I knew the kids mom lived in Buda, which is also south of Austin, not as far as San Marcos, but south. So, I called my mom and said that I was taking the kids home on Sunday and we could go to San Marcos after I dropped them off. I then had Viv call her mother and tell her that I would need her to come and show me where to go to drop off the kids since I hadn't done it before. So, Sunday rolls around, I put Viv in my minivan and we go out to her folks and got her mom and the kids. At this point I left Viv in the front and her her mom and the kids in the back two seats. From there we go over and I get my mom. We get mom in the front seat, Viv joined her mom in the second seat and the 3 kids in the third seat. It turned out I probably could've figured out where to drop the kids, but I was glad to have Kathy there. I was also glad my mom was there because I don't think Dawn would've been as reasonable if she wasn't. I mean, Dawn barely knew me, but she didn't know my mom at all. From there, we headed back onto the interstate and went to San Marcos and went to the Koret store (might have the name a bit wrong, but close.) So, in we go. There was this one young gal in there working, and Mom tried on some clothes. Mom, like me, is kind of hard to fit - I'm harder because I'm plus sized, but, like Mom, I'm also short. Anyway, Viv noticed the gal was kind of excited. Viv asked what she was excited about. She told Viv she had never had 3 generations in the store at the same time. Viv asked what she meant. Well, she pointed at my mom and said, "She's the mother of her," pointing at Viv's mom. "And she's the mother of the two of you." Meaning Viv and me. Broke Viv's heart to tell her that "She," pointing at her mom, "is my mom and she," pointing at my mom, "is her mom." But still, she made 4 sales that day. Mom bought several things. Kathy bought a cute outfit, Viv got a cute long sleeve shirt for when you don't need a coat and I got a purple jacket. Oh, and I still have it...
So, my wife is back in the rehab hospital. They took her over on Thursday, 12-30-2021. (That's so I know what year later.) Between it be right after Christmas...

People can be weird, they jump into conclusions knowing nothing at all. At least there was nothing offensive that the gal said.

Yeah, that was an amusing one. My mom was 13 years older than Viv's mom who is 13 years older than I am. But Mom was just a tad over 5 foot like I am where Viv's mom was even taller than Viv - probably because Viv rather slumped so she could see things better (closer) because of her vision.

@ElicBxn I am only 5 foot 2, the same as my Mom was. My brother is 6.49 and the boyfriend of his daughter even a bit taller.

@LadyDuck Dad was 5'11, Mom was 5'1 and my brother is 5'6. His daughter is probably 5'1 also - hard to tell and I'm not asking...

The only exercise some people get is jumping to conclusions.
