Shame On You John Bennett

I am no fan of Dr. Fauci and that's no secret. I think he mislead the American people and implemented failed policy after failed policy, all of which proved to be disastrously wrongheaded.
Nonetheless, perhaps I can walk away at least believing that Fauci acted in a manner consistent with good intentions and bad information. That's the fair way to view things rather than to simply assume things. Even though I still contend there is far more to know about his involvement with Covid than what we currently know.
But that's for another day.
I am here to say "shame on you" to Oklahoma GOP chair John Bennett who suggested in a recent campaign speech, as he is running for Congress, that he wants to see Dr. Fauci put in front of a firing squad.
This is NOT the GOP, sir. It's not how we do things. And it is a ridiculous idea most of all. The fact that the comment was made with any air of seriousness, which it was, is abhorrent.
Sir, with all due respect, you are not fit to lead my party in Oklahoma, not fit to be a Congressman, and not fit to don our beloved elephant or bear an "R" after your name.
Uncalled for.

Hopefully your boyfriend has more sense than to run around, wanting to stick people he doesn’t agree with in front of a firing squad.

@porwest Oh yes they do Jim..and I do not know without googling it. But I know I read it.
It looks like Utah does
With a scarcity of lethal injection drugs, South Carolina has brought back an archaic execution method. In other states, men on death row are asking for it.

I hope he said it as a metaphor. I hope he didn't really mean it.

That would be my hope too, but I think he was speaking seriously. Either way, the optics on things like this never look good. Beyond that the underlying point gets entirely missed and overshadowed by the comment, which becomes the story rather than the rationale behind the comment.

I absolutely agree. Disagree with someone. That's fine. And state why you disagree. That's fine too. But to suggest a firing squad? Irresponsible. Worse than that, when a statement like this is made it becomes the ONLY statement that matters. All of the rest of the message gets lost and ignored.

Absolutely. I agree with you that Fauci ran with what he had, which was probably bad information. And that wasn’t the first time he did that, either: in 1985 he parroted the notion that AIDS could be spread by casual contact (in the Journal of the American Medical Association, no less!!
) because it was a theory that hadn’t been disproven at that point.
I said in my reply to Greg that the dictators want to kill their enemies because they’re afraid of facing the public at the ballot box. Bennett should resign immediately and, as the Bob Wills song said, hang his head in shame.

Seems like most politicians consider themselves to be smarter and better than the rest,
