Is justice served?

Some of you might have read one of my earlier posts about the new family member, baby Hendrix. I mentioned Hendrix is the full biological brother of Annelyn, who is two. Annelyn came to be with my sister at three days old because her birth mother abused her first child. However, after a week with my sister's family a genius judge said, hey! She hasn't abused THIS child. So they gave Annelyn back to the birth mother. A week after that the birth mother took Annelyn to the ER because she poured boiling water over the lower half of Annelyn's body. So, that put her back in the home of my sister. The birth mother got jail time, but then Covid hit. Then, almost a year ago, the birth mom got pregnant again. So the courts said they'd wait until she had the baby before sending her to jail. And this past week she was finally imprisoned for a minimum of two years. She has no chance of getting Hendrix back, thank goodness. Was justice served?

Justice is an odd concept in this country. Clearly, this woman shouldn't have children under her custody or control. Was mental illness a part of this?

Mental illness was not a part of this to my knowledge. Even with the charges she was offered supervised visitation if she attended therapy and parenting classes. She never showed up.

NO, only two years for everything she did is not enough. This woman should be sterilized, so she cannot hurt other babies.

I think she should have gotten a longer harder sentence. I must be a lot less forgiving then I thought. People like that should not be able to take kids home after having them or else be not allowed to have any more either.

She was even given the opportunity to take parenting classes to get visitation, but she never showed up.

It's hard to understand the justice system sometimes.

Oh no, that poor child. A woman like that should be sterilized so she could never have another child.

@AmbiePam Your sister is a good woman to take these two children in her home and heart.

I personally that people who commit crimes against children like that should be sterilized. There is simply no justification.

I cannot imagine mothers or parents ill treating their kids. I think those parents deserve a harsh punishment. Imagine the scar (not physical) you leave the child for the maltreatment.

Yes and no to your question. Justice was served in the fact that she did get jail time, but the length of it is questionable in my opinion.
