The Day Before The Last Day of the Month

United States
April 29, 2022 11:12am CST
Happy Friday Everyone! it's sunny but still on the chilly side here today. Here we are one day away from the weekend and one day away from the end of the month. Today is just a normal day for me. Nothing much going on which is fine. My daughter has a very busy work day today with a webinar and a staff meeting in addition to all her usual work. I know she's feeling stressed because these interruptions just keep pushing the actual work behind. Since she's got these work related things going on today I can use it as an excuse to be extra quiet and catch up on some tv, reading or computer stuff. I just finished two good books: The Book of Lost Names by Kristen Harmel and What Happened to the Bennetts by James Patterson. Both books were so good I finished them in record time. The next book I started is The Lost and Found Bookshop by Susan Wiggs. I've read many of her books and enjoyed them all. So, I expect this one to be good as well. I feels good to be back in the reading mode as I went for quite awhile without a book by my side. That's my day so far. What's going on with you today? Anything fun planned for the weekend?

Yes the day before the last. This month flew by. I hope your daughter will feel less stress very soon once that is over with. Good you are reading Marilyn. All I am doing today is watering a few seedlings. The sun is out. I realize changing anything around here is a pipe dream. I may go visit Mamas grave this eve with nephew if he shows.

What was the book of Lost Names about? I started another book last night it is a fictional story about the daughter of a serial killer. It had rave reviews on Amazon and sounded like my cup of tea as well.

@Marilynda1225 It sounds really good, and probably based partly on fact as well.

Book of Lost Names is about a young woman who escapes France with her mother (her father gets detained by the Nazis) and becomes a forger of documents to get mostly children out of France and safely into Switzerland. It's not so much about WW2 and Auschwitz as much as it's about the forged papers and the underground to get people/children to safety. It was an awesome read

Our housekeeper came yesterday (Friday) and did a lot of the little jobs that I'm unable to do. Nothing planned for the weekend. I read two books and then stopped. I need to get back into the reading mode. Have a good weekend!

@Marilynda1225 Thanks. Yeah, I was on a reading hiatus for a couple of years and couldn't get into reading books. I used to devour them. Trying to get back into the habit.

Nothing much planned for the weekend. We are in our summer tand so lost the count of weekends. We get back to new academic year from mid of June. Till then I am at home trying to catch up with few things in the vacation time. And I too need to attend a few webinars in the vacation.

At least your were able to spend some time outside with some nice weather Our weather this past week got cold again and I had to put the heat on overnight. Today it's sunny and nice and a bit warmer. Certainly has been a disappointing spring for us

I admit to being in a non-reading zone right now. After reading all of those political books (Hoax, Fear, Catch and Kill), I suddenly hit "book burn out." But I'll be back in the saddle soon.

Susan Wiggs has written some great books and I've been reading them for years. I love that most of her books revolve around family. I"m getting into the one I'm reading now and it's quite good. Kristen Harmel has lots of books also but this was the first book I've read by her (book of lost names) and of course never disappointed with James Patterson

@Marilynda1225 I’ve finished about three quarters of Tara Road by Maeve Binchy and I really like it. It’s about family, children, cheating ,and all the problems that go with it.

A nice relaxing day for you, nice. My day great. My Resident Manager coming by, removal of broken washer and I'll give him my old yr 2000 bought Sylvania tv and surprise gift of $20 & Big Pkg of Old Trapper Deli Style Beef Sticks. We have a Bulky Items pick up locally for my washer. Weather didn't permit me shopping today. Got a text from my cable company... they need to check something outside so appointment made for May 3. Beginning to be a very good, but hectic month start.

You're on a roll with reading - glad you got back into it . We just have so much to do with the yard - need to get that done before summer seriously hits (June 1st we will only be allowed to water outside once a week - not sure of the details about that). Have a good weekend!!
