Water Everywhere

I had a shock when I went out yesterday. I stepped out in the parking area and water covered the whole area. I looked at the fire hydrants and water was gushing from all five that I could see from my apartment. I. had a letter I needed to mail so I slouched through the water to my mailbox. I thought an apartment must have been on fire but I couldn’t see any smoke. Men were standing at each fire hydrant with tools in hand. I stopped and asked one of the guys If there was a fire and he said no. There was a rupture in a main water line and hydrants had to be turned on to release the pressure so the main line could be repaired. That was a relief. If an apartment caught fire here it would likely burn everything down. We have several buildings but some are very close together. Others are down the street and some are on a back street. A fire is what I dread most.

Whew! I'm glad there was no fire. I hope the water line is fixed now so that you can get back to normal.

It was. I’d never seen so much water gushing out. My feet were soaking wet when I got back to my apartment.

Oh I would too. Cause I would have to turn off my machine and grab one of my oxygen tanks to breath and move outside and try to figure a way to get 5 other oxygen tanks out of the house to prevent a big explosion.

I'm so glad it wasn't due to a fire but it's a shame that so much water was wasted.

I know. I’m wondering if tenants will have to pay for all that water. My water bills already too high.

I'm glad it turned out they were just running the hydrants to release the pressure.

While it's never good when things like that happen, at least it wasn't a fire and no one was hurt.

At least there wasn't a fire in any of the buildings. But it sounds like your had to slosh your way through the water to the mailbox. My feet would have been soaked.

We had a fire in East Tawas last week, a home was completely destroyed. Jay and I drove past it yesterday, the entire roof has fallen into the living room. This family experienced a total loss.
