After seeing another discussion this morning it prompted me to take a break from “working here at myLot” to give you another song from 1962. No, I don’t “work” here. I resent the notion of being accused of working. I’m a former postal employee, so what do I know about working???? Anyway (love ya, JJ), here’s the next song that’s celebrating its 60th birthday this year. Big Girls Don’t Cry - The Four Seasons Frankie! Jersey Boys!!! Rock and roll, 60s style!!!! Yeah, it’s Mr. Falsetto and the boys with one of their biggest hits. They went 11 years between #1 hits (1964’s “Rag Doll” and 1975’s “December 1963 [Oh What a Night]”) once Beatlemania took hold, but at this point they were HOT. This was sandwiched between two other chart-topping hits (“Sherry” and “Walk Like a Man”), solidifying the career of The Four Seasons. If only those guys from England hadn’t shown up…. Big Girls Don’t Cry Written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio Recorded by The Four Seasons From Sherry and 11 Others, 1962 That’s just an alibi:

Always was a big fan of the Four Seasons and love this song. Actually this is a good song for me today because I'' frustrated and could cry (nothing seems to be going right today ugh). Anyway I'm working hard today not to scream

I always liked that line from Gallagher: “Frankie Valli, ‘Walk like a man, talk like a man,’ sings it like a woman.”

Well, maybe but I've heard another male soprano, he's an opera singer from somewhere in Asia, his range is amazing

I like that song. Those guys must have had to spend a lot of time practicing to hit those high notes.

Frankie had an amazing falsetto in his heyday. Can’t believe he had a big hit with “My Eyes Adored You” in a “normal” voice in the 70s!

They know it, they corrected themselves at the end of the song (“big girls DO cry”).

I was born in 1968, and The Four Seasons was my first favorite singing group ever. I cannot remember a time when I did not like them. I was into their music long before “December 1963 [Oh What a Night]” was thought of, let alone released.
