Childhood Memories - #4 Addendum

I thought of a couple other things about elementary school; so I'm writing an addendum: Since almost all of the kids walked to school, we had a very friendly cop called Mack that would cross us over the final main street before the school. I was a member of the Campfire Girls; and they would have meetings at the senior high public school within walking distance from my school. Our leader got a divorce after a relatively short time; and the group was disbanded. I remember the "highlight" of the day would be if one of the priests came into the room. One of the kids would ask for his blessing. That was big stuff back then. Religion was woven into EVERY subject. I remember something about the times tables being created by God. I kid you not. I always did very well in school except for Handwriting (I still have very bad handwriting -- my hand can't keep up with what my brain puts out) and Religion (which didn't go over well with the nuns). I am going to continue this series on into junior high and high school because there were some interesting events during that time. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I was very happy the first three years I went to school. The religious school where I went was nice, the nuns were nice. When my parents bought a new apartment and we moved, I had to go to another school that I hated. I continued the 2 years of elementary schools and I was there during the Junior High school. I have no good memories at all. A time of my life tat I hated.

After going to parochial school through 7th grade I had a rude awakening when I went to public school. That will be my next post.

@LindaOHio - I never went to public school. Even when I stopped going to the Catholic school, I went to a private school.

My brain goes ahead of my hand when I'm handwriting too. And ahead of my fingers half the time when I'm typing.

During grades 6 - 8 I attended Lutheran Elementary School, No nums there and not uniforms, What I really enjoyed was that every Wednesday the classes were taken I a big church across the street for services, I loved that best and learned to love many hymns.
