Happy Birthday Daddy

Today will always be Daddy's birthday. He has been gone five years now. And missed every single day. Thankfully I have a lifetime of memories to keep me going. The photo was a gift I gave him many years ago. He kept it on his television. He said he wanted it close, so he could see it every day. That tells you how much television he watched. He was such a comedian. Dustin enjoyed spending summers with him. They both shared many of the same likes. Football and computers. His career was always in senior management computer engineering. (Analyst & Senior Field Engineer) My Dad was also a musician. He played guitar and was in many bands. All local bands. And he really enjoyed his country music. I remember often times we had family get togethers on weekends. Daddy, my uncle, other family and friends, played music, the rest would eat, talk, and drink coffee. And the kids would play games and just have fun. The good days and happy memories. Photo is mine. He always called me his baby. I was the youngest of the family.

Happy Birthday to your Dad! I lost mine ten years ago. I miss him every day. I wasn’t the youngest, but we shared a special bond, and I feel you do to. I know they’re always near, and they are taking care of us every single day.

Your dad sounds like he was a great guy like mine is. My dad is a bit of a pushover(ast least with those he loves) but as sweet and kind and humble a guy as you would ever meet. Let your memories sustain you..and Happy Birthday to your dad.

Between now and June 3rd, the birthdays of my mom's parents, my dad's father and both my mom and dad's Birthdays will fall. They are all gone now but this time of year always finds me more emotional than the rest of the year. I have a few items that remind me of them all. In 1965, my dad and his dad went to a World Series game between the Dodgers and my Minnesota Twins. Garandpa caught a foul ball that day and gave it to my dad. Dad displayed that ball on the TV until the end of his days. When he passed away, my mom sent it to me. My wife lets me display it too. In a box in a closet lol. Happy Birthday to your father. That gift you gave to him so long ago must bring you comfort and fond memories *wipes tears*

I toi have other memories soon. Lost my Mom this month. Her birthday the first part of June. Life can be so difficult. This memory is a good one. But even the good ones hurt. Thank you for sharing yours.

Aww, what great memories you have of your father! Sounds like you had a wonderful childhood growing up. We must have both lost our fathers near the same time period, because it was a little more than five years ago that I lost my own father.

@CarolDM Many kids these days don’t understand the freedom and adventure that comes from growing up in the country. There’s just something satisfying about getting dirty while out playing. Makes you feel like you accomplished something. Lol

Good memories indeed Jeff. Living in the country was the best life for a child. We loved getting dirty. Losing my Mom changed everything. But my first 13 years were pretty much amazing. My Dad passed in 2017.

Happy birthday to your dad! I can only imagine how these two months are for you. Hold onto your memories dearly. My mother’s birthday was April 3. Mine is a few days past Mother’s Day, and my dad’s birthday was June 6 - so close to Father’s Day.

I was a young mom when I lost my Dad. It's very hard. He was my stable parent. So full of fun and always ready for adventure, he loved his grandchildren so much, too. It doesn't seem to get easier, does it? I still think of him so often. I celebrate his birthday, too. I am glad you have good memories of him to sustain you.

No, time does not heal the wounds, no matter who tells you that. I am glad he and my son made good memories. Maybe one day I will see them all. But who really knows for sure.
