I watched this movie on Netflix and there's some familiarity to it. I swore I've never seen it before but the name of the characters, the storyline, the place....I somehow knew it. It sounded like the book I've read before and so I googled it. And yes, it was a book of the same title by Sarah Dessen. I remember enjoying reading the book and getting into the character of Auden. But I simply couldn't find that connection in the movie. I think the movie was ok though but I just enjoyed reading the book more.

Most of the time movies made after books are not as good as the book.

What was the name of the movie? I am an avid reader, and I always find that i like the books better than the movie versions. Like you, I always make a connection with the characters in the book. I think part of it is that you have more time when reading to develop that connection, where in a movie they have to tell the story in less than 2 hours. Also, there are many times when the “feel” of the written story just doesn’t translate well to the big screen.

Along for the Ride. The book was a short one and in fact they got everything in the movie. Sometimes, it's how it was directed or simply the actors weren't good enough. I could relate to Harry Potter in the movie, same with Katniss in the Hunger Games. And other movies from books too. But this one, there was nothing.

@moffittjc Yes and I can only hope that people have read the book instead of just watched the movie.

@toniganzon Nothing ruins a good book like a bad movie version of it! Lol

Strange that how the book does not correlate with the film.

They did. IN fact the film was exactly as how the book was written.

I am a big fan of Sarah Dessen's writing and read the book this movie is based on when it came out. I follow her on Twitter and, before she took her sabbatical from the site and pared down her list of people she was following, it was mutual. She's been posting about this movie for months now and I look forward to watching it.

I have not watched the movie and not read the book either. Most of the movies based on books do not do a good justice to the book.

Most yeah. Coz most movies could not really express majority of what's in the book. But this one, it has everything that twas written in the book. It was probably the actors and the actresses or probably it wasn't well directed.

@arunima25 Exactly! But directing bears the more weight. No matter how good the actors are when they're directly poorly, it'll turn out awful.

@toniganzon A good direction and good deliveries by the actors are very important for any movie to be impressive.

@MrDenata I only continued watching it because I know what's going to happen in the end. I think the directing was really not good.

I usually prefer the books to the movies but sometimes it's the other way round.
