Some chit chat, catching up... Mother's day

Good afternoon from this side of the planet 
. It's 4:45 PM here. And I feel like dozing off for a while. But then the sound of the beater and the chit chat and giggles won't let me. Good for me as I want to get back to my regular sleeping rhythm from today. I have been off track from my sleep wake rhythm in the last two weeks after the summer vacation started for me and my younger daughter. Elder one is busy with her exams and she will not have any long summer vacation this year. Blame Covid that the exams are delayed and there would be hardly any break for her between the two academic years.
Girls are busy baking some cake in the kitchen. It was not so enthusiastic Mother's day wish in the morning and I thought that they don't plan to do anything special today. But then post lunch they are geared up and seems that some yummy cupcakes are there for the Mother's day. 
Nothing much planned for the vacation. It's just relaxing , TV watching, art and craft, sorting and organizing stuffs and downsizing... enough to keep busy. Already April is over. We have to be back to work by second week of June. The holidays will be over soon. Time flies faster in the holidays.
Not been much active here after second week of April. Lots of good things in the offline life kept me busy and away from here.
Time to catch up here. I plan to do lot of mylotting in the remaining of the holidays 
.
Happy Mother's day to all the lovely ladies here who have children or fur babies.

Not very much going on here... We're fighting squirrels (we think it's just one squirrel) that keeps eating the lettuce as soon as it grows and has eaten two of the bell pepper plants and taken them roots and all. 
I still have four more bell pepper plants growing, though. The squirrel doesn't seem interested in my spinach and I've begun picking leaves and eating them raw. YUM!
The pampas grass finally sprouted and is growing well this spring. The fountain grass still hasn't sprouted. I'm worried that it was killed this winter.
Tomato plants are growing and blooming as well as the green onions. (Pretty harvested all the tops of the green onions yesterday and put them into the fridge for me to cut up and use in the cooking.)

I was wondering when I would get to see a new discussion from your side.
Here it has been busy work wise, and then we had the landlord visit today.
Apart from this, kids are busy with tonnes of homeworks.
Looks like the teachers want to keep the kids on their toes.
Plus Card making activity is planned for them in the school tomorrow.
But to me, all such things are gimmicks - real love and respect matter much more than all this noise and din of making cards etc.

I might sound like an alien to some, but I am a non-believer in the concepts like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Friendship Day etc.
I have seen people going overboard in celebrating these days whereas in their hearts, their feelings hardly reflect what they express publically.

Teachers want to bombard children with activities and projects. Everything goes overboard and I think that it would not be so good for holistic development in a long run. Children are overworked and stressed.
And I totally agree with you. There was no such gimmicks of a special day for expression of love. It's all marketing gimmick and global influence. For my younger daughter, she is ready to bake anytime and just needs excuses

@arunima25 No Arunima, I was going to go help out at some quick restaurant in the mall to gain some cash but I havent the right clothes. My son ..I am not sure if he remembers its Mothers Day Its okay I dont care about it.

I was surprised when one of our friends from UK told us about Mother's day in the March. That was a new information for me.
Yes the summer vacation is from April to second week of June. For teaching and non teaching staffs, the vacation starts a week later in second week of April and we have to report a week earlier that in second week of June.

Happy Mothers Day! No pets, no children. My fiance passed. Still true to my true love. Though alone, my Mother passed 2017. I get her flowers and her favorite snack. I usually go to Safeway Supermarket, but this year, weather isn't permitting. So went to near by Marukai, just 5 minutes away, got beautiful white to mum's instead of her tulips. I've a candle lit for her now.

Good morning and Happy Mother's Day to you.
We are blessed with a sunny and bright morning here in my region.
We are going out to see our son and daughter-in-law today to visit with them and the twins.
We try to get together every couple of weeks as the twins are growing so much its nice to see them often.
