Lockdown damage...another wet morning.

Good morning from this side of the planet.. It's 9 AM here as I write this post. It's another wet morning after a night long shower and drizzling. So, another day when we had to cancel our outdoors exercising plan. I did my breathing exercises and some stretching yoga poses indoors. Husband has left for office and so cooking done till lunch time. Now I can sit and relax here for a while . It's good when there is lunch packing and the kitchen work gets over early in the morning. I have a load of clothes to wash but it has to wait till the last load from Monday is fully dried. I have brought the cloth hanger in my master bedroom and switched on the fan at full speed. That should help it dry fast. I am not going upstairs for few hours and so fan can be on. It's chill morning and I took out a full sleeves top. Fan is switched off. We needed some sheets to cover ourselves last night as it was a bit cold. This weather would sound like heaven to people in North India who are going through a terrible summer at this time. Well, the shoe damage stories are quite common in lockdown. I have heard a few from friends and family. The shoes were ruined as they didn't get used. And the picture here shows another such story. That's the shoe my husband took out and wore. And then the brittle sole started coming out as he walked. That's the shoe we bought few weeks before the first lockdown in 2020. And the not much used new shoes get tossed in the bin. He had to take out another pair that he made up his mind to donate. So guess, it's shoe shopping on our to do list for this weekend. Now I move to reading and responding to your discussions. Notifications can wait for a while. I will come back to them later. Have a good time in your mylot corner

I wish I could . I need sun for few hours so that the clothes dry. Those piles of unwashed ones can be overwhelming. Also, the current is gone now because of rain and wind picking up. So, some downsides of a pleasant weather

Even in storage shoes lose useful life it seems. The sole of my rubber shoes peeled off while I was at a cafe LOL.

Yes, they do. Any shoe( even the costliest ones with high quality) tend to get ruined if not used for a long. It's tricky to manage when your shoes are broken somewhere. How did you manage there in the cafe??

@arunima25 I just dumped the heel/sole and it still worked fine. It was just thin thankfully.

No, he did not walk in the rain. They were left unused for almost two years and got ruined.

@arunima25 I cannot believe it! I still have the shoes I wore at my wedding, just because a sentimental reason. I do not wear them and they are perfect.

Is it the humidity that ruins your shoes? Shoes are expensive here - or at least some are.

We get a lot of rain but not much humidity. So far the weather has not caused any damages to the shoes. Few good shoes were ruined lately due to no use for so long in the Covid time. Here too the good branded shoes are on expensive side and this one was one expensive brand.

Yes, it is. I guess that the leather quality was not so good. On a positive side, he gets a valid excuse to buy a new pair

It's the same situation in North India. My brother and my mother stay there. They often feel jealous of the weather here. They try to come here and spend some time when the heat is horrible there. Summer is pretty long there and then they get extreme temperatures in winters too. Pleasant weather time is too short there.

They do. Shoes tend to go waste like this if they are not used for too long.
