Marukai is just a 5 minutes walk away from my home. Yesterday as I went to check in corn beef cabbage plate lunches to eat Saturday, today, alas, sold out. Well, Fajitas stir fry then for today. I found out, a little pop up, undagi stand was open for business. I checked in corn beef and cabbage and checked my watch. Running out of time to get home by sundown. I was hoping little undagi stand would be open today. They were and sold for 6 for $4. I got a bag. Some recipes are heavier doughnuts. This pop up undagi stand has lighter undagi, splendid! Undagi anyway, us very delicious! I'm enjoying my undagi now!

We have something similar, it's a Dutch recipe, their name is Oliebollen, I make them time by time.

@oahuwriter Oliebollen are very good, we use to prepare them before the start of Lent season.

Nice!! The only time I can find them locally is when obon festival is here (that one has the heavier doughnut type). I had a friend who used to make them - they were bready and light. Enjoy them !

Terrific! I found out Don Quite, Kaheka Lane, evil Wednesday, has undagi stand, last time I went early this yr, 3/1.50 , but half size of picture ones. They sprinkle sugar or sugar/cinnamon on their undagi... inflation might affect price.

@oahuwriter Oh that inflation . But I don't make them at all (deep fried, right?) - so I would almost buy them at any price. I think the obon ones had just sugar on them . . . my friend didn't put anything on them. Cinnamon would be good too!

Me too. In fact, when I first went, they were cooking up a new batch, so had to wait. Went shopping, and got super hot ones right out of pan! Yum!!!

Now that sounds good, but not tried deep fried cornbread... will research it, thanks. Sort of close to fried cornbread, but moisture a bit more.
