The new week is here, and it’s a warm one. I’ll try to wait until mid-June to complain about the heat, after a winter of complaining about the cold. One thing I can’t complain about, though, is the great music from 1962. Here’s another song that’s sixty years old and still brings smiles. Shout! Shout! (Knock Yourself Out) - Ernie Maresca “Play another song like ‘Runaround Sue.’” Now that is some self-promotion! You see, while Ernie Maresca was indeed a one-hit wonder as far as a recording artist goes (with this being that sole hit), he was on the charts a number of times as a songwriter. Among the songs he co-wrote: “Runaround Sue,” the big hit for Dion. (He also co-wrote “The Warderer” and “Donna the Prima Donna,” other hits for Dion.) It seems like shouting was popular then, with the Isley Brothers’ song “Shout.” Later in the 80s Tears for Fears shouted themselves. This one isn’t invoking a spirit of masochism but inviting everyone to have a great time. Put this song on, and you will have a good time! Shout! Shout! (Knock Yourself Out) Written by Ernie Maresca and Thomas Bogdany Recorded by Ernie Maresca From Shout! Shout! (Knock Yourself Out), 1962 Put another dime in the record machine:

I am so very appreciative of the AC and ceiling fans. This is another one I don't remember.

I'm surprised it didn't make the golden oldies in the late 60s or early 70s.
