Eurovision and going to Church.

It was the Eurovision song contest on Saturday. My Mum and I watched it together, although half the time she was asleep! When the results were revealed we were really expecting Great Britain to get nil point again. It was the national votes first, then the public vote comes afterwards. First the votes 1-10 are revealed, and then a spokesperson from each country says who they want they're 12 points to go to. Straight away we got some points. So I said to Mum, at least we haven't got no points this year. But then we started getting 12's! And they kept coming! Before long we were in the No.1 position! Neither me not my Mum could believe it! She was sitting there with her mouth open in shock! We ended up with 300 odd points I think before the public vote. When the public votes are revealed they do it differently, to save time. They go from the country who currently has the least points, which I think last night was Germany, and they say how many points in total they received, then they move on to the country with the second least amount of points and so on until they come to the country with the most points. And here everything can change. UK were No.1 so we had to wait till last to see if we'd won or not. Ukraine was in fifth or six place at this point. When they got to the Ukraine they had a massive 400 points from the public vote! It shot them straight to the No.1 position. By this time, the UK had dropped to about Fourth place. Eventually it was our turn and we got about 100 odd points which pushed us up the leaderboard. Eventually the Ukraine won and Great Britain came second! It was such a late night on Saturday so I didn't watch any Doctor Who before going to bed. I just put on an Andre Rieu CD and went to bed! I went to Church again on Sunday. I put my pretty pink dress on again, and I made some earrings to match them, which I wore to Church. I walked to Church again. It was promising thunder storms on Sunday but I don't think they happened, unless they happened at night when I was asleep! It was OK when I was walking to Church, only a few clouds around. I had my cup of tea in a proper mug and I nabbed 2 ginger nut biscuits in a little packet. My arrived 5 minutes before the service started! We sang some sogs, a lady came up and prayed, and Penny spoke on the feeding of the four thousand. We sang another song and went home. We could take some mini St John's gospels to give away. They were in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and had a picture of the Queen on the front. I took 6 when I went home. I walked home again afterwards. The weather was still fine. Next week it's the baptismal service. How was your day?

Zelensky gives Kalush Orchestra permission to travel because a victory will lift the spirits of Ukrainian.

I am glad they decided to manipulate the vote so that Ukraine won and they were not disqualified for the political statement they made at the end.

They won fair and square and I'm glad they did. We're quite satisfied coming second.

@sharonelton I hope UK finally figures out next year how to be in the left side of the score board again. BBC almost considered sending Frock destroyers over Sam Ryder. I am glad they decided to go for Sam. Nothing against the Frock Destroyers but they are comedy act and only one of them can sing. BBC almost send this girl group to Eurovision to rep UK:

Yesterday was a quiet day. Church service in the morning. Lunch and then we went for a short drive (even with the high gasoline prices). I rescued a sewing machine from someone’s trash….what a sweet machine. Quiet, beautiful stitch….

@sharonelton it was set out at the end of their driveway as trash. The cover was a bit dirty, but the machine was immaculate inside. I cautiously plugged it in and gave it a test run. Sews like a dream…quiet, beautiful stitch…

@Morleyhunt That's what we do if we have trash, put it at the end of the drive for the rag and none man, as long as it's got metal in it. But if it works so well, why were they throwing it out? It puzzles me. I hope you get some good use out of it. I put an old typewriter of mine at the end of the drive once. I think it still worked, and I was going to give it to a charity shop, but when I got it out I saw that there was terrible grime on the top of it. I tried to clean it off but it would not shift. It was ground in. It was disgusting! So I reluctantly put it at the end of the drive.

I'm glad you had a nice quiet day. I hope you enjoyed your Church service. You rescued a sewing machine from someone's trash? And it worked? Why were they throwing it away?

Good morning and thank you very much. Yes, the Ukraine was a big favourite. Even if their song had been a stinker they would have still got the sympathy vote. But their song was good. They deserved to win either way and I'm really glad they did. We were satisfied with second place.
