6 Times A Charm?

So, I was with my boss Saturday night for a trivia night thing at the Moose Lodge and now he tells me that he tested positive for Covid. I swear, I can hear the Count from Sesame Street somewhere in the background here. "6. 6 beautiful cases of Covid." Yep, this marks my 6th direct exposure to Covid. It's only Monday night so who knows if I am out of the woods yet. But I am still unvaccinated, and still sans Covid. So I guess I am just keeping my fingers crossed. For Heaven's sake, I haven't even had a cold for at least 6 years. I am not sure if it is the vitamins I take or the beer, or some super immune system I have... But so far I have been lucky I guess. Either way, this current version of it is akin to having a case of allergy issues supposedly and very short lived. Hell, it's probably not even Covid. It's just everything is Covid now. When is the last time someone said, "I have a cold?" It's all been Covid for the past almost three years. No colds. No flu. All Covid. Anyone gets sick anymore? It's all Covid. I'm calling hooey. But still keeping my fingers crossed. And making sure to take some extra vitamins in any event. Onward and upward.

I’ve had at least 20 students who have had COVID this school year and another 50 who were known close contacts and who had to quarantine. I cannot imagine how many exposures I’ve had so far. I haven’t gotten it yet and I hope I never do. (unlikely)

@porwest This sucker is mutating pretty quickly. I figure it is only a matter of time. I will continue to get vaccinated and boosted as necessary. I will wear a mask again if I have to. (I'm not currently even at work) I will happily go back to virtual teaching.

Some things are inevitable in this world. I hope Covid is not one of them. Fingers crossed.

I hope you don't get it. One of our members and her husband just caught it.

@porwest Now our member's mother caught it. And she just lost her husband. What a bad situation. Maybe you are immune.

Knock on wood, but I am really am beginning to be convinced I may be immune. Only time will tell of course. Hmm. It is what it is either way.

Oh wow, I congratulate you for dodging the virus for a very long time since it invaded the whole world. I got mine when the pandemic just started way back in Sep 2020. It hit me hard and I thought I would not be able to survive it since there were no vaccines and no better treatment for it back then. I am fortunate to have survived it using plasma treatment. Now I am vaccinated and the waves that hit our place somehow the virus was not able to harm me even though my son got it early this year but the effect was not as bad as mine anymore since he was vaccinated already and was able to recover faster than me before.

@porwest Although I am hearing new variants are coming in and spreading too. But the numbers are not that alarming anymore as in most cases they are sent home to recover and do not need to be hospitalized and isolated. Nowadays most cases are self-quarantine is needed and monitoring and there is no more need for anything to recover from it. I think this virus will soon disappear as its strains are not that lethal as the first strains were.

Glad to hear at least it is past you now. I know for a while in the beginning certainly getting it was much worse of a proposition than it is now for a variety of reasons, including very weak new strains. I still don't want to get it though even if it is more like a bad cold now.

I haven't had a cold for the past 17 years. Where covid is concerned maybe you are like a cat with nine lives, -three more exposures left.

Just the usual stuff. I take vitamin C, D, a multi and I also take Omega-3.

Covid is real. Sometimes we get lucky and avoid illnesses that surround us. I’ve nursed my entire family through Norwalk (a particularly nasty bug with lots of vomiting and diarrhoea) and I didn’t get sick.

Maybe luck has a role? Not sure. I generally don't consider myself to be all that lucky a person. lol. But when it comes to this...perhaps?

I know many that said they had covid. And lost a few family members along the way. But like you, I never ever hear the word cold or flu any more.
