I wonder how long

Birthday present I opened with "Angel" on it

I just had a hard, loud cry. Angel is the first dog I've ever had to put down by myself. The other times I had Mom. Of course, all three of our other dogs I finally healed from. I stopped crying spontaneously and just had fond memories. Now that I don't have Mom to share my grief with anymore, I wonder how long it will take to heal.

Grief takes time, pace yourself. I think you will be just fine.

It will take a while to say the least. I have always had to do those things alone so I know what you're going through. Just remember that Angel had a warm loving home with you and you also had the strength to know when it would be best to end the pain.

Oh I am so sorry to read about your needing to put Angel down. It is such a hard thing to do. But it's always best for the dog. We had to put our baby down in 10/2017 and we were offered another dog almost right away and we couldn't do it. Our hearts needed time to heal. But about 3 months later I was ready to consider adopting another rescue dog. Reeses will always stay in my heart though.
