The songs I’ve picked as my favorites from 1962 probably won’t ring the bells that these songs I’m using for the rest of the month will, but that’s okay. It was a pretty good year for music! Thanks for all the nice comments about my road trip. Hop on board for another trip, back 60 years! Here’s today’s song. Teen Age Idol - Ricky Nelson Although Ricky Nelson didn’t write this, he lived it. He went from one of Ozzie and Harriet’s kids to superstardom overnight. And I’m sure we truly don’t have “no way of knowing how lonesome” that kind of life is. Think about it: Elvis died alone. Michael Jackson died alone. Prince died alone. Their “friends” were their prescription drug dealers. Nelson didn’t die alone, but he did die young, leaving us memories of an underrated singer. Teen Age Idol Written by Jack Lewis Recorded by Ricky Nelson Released as a single, 1962 That won’t mean a thing:

Warren Zevon called them Elvis’s “regicidal friends.” How true.

He was 'up there with them' when I was a teenager.

I had to watch reruns of Ozzie & Harriet, but I remember “Garden Party” very well.

I do remember Ricky Nelson even though I had forgotten about him until you mentioned him, He was quite popular back in the "good old days"

“Garden Party” is on my 100 favorites list, so I remember him quite well….although Ozzie and Harriet were just reruns for me.

Absolutely. There was a lot more to him than the “teenage idol” thing.

Oh, you’re just funnin’ with me now. This wasn’t as big as “Travelin’ Man” or “Poor Little Fool.”
