Instant summer, just add humidity! That’s okay. It ain’t snow! (Although I heard one of the meteorologists say there’s actually winter storm warnings out for the higher elevations in the Rockies. They can keep it.) Musically speaking, it is still 1962, and here’s another song from sixty years ago to get up and dance to. Twistin’ the Night Away - Sam Cooke Disclaimer time: because I was raised on country music, the first version of this song I heard was Rod Stewart’s remake. Rod the Bod redid this song twice: once on Never a Dull Moment, and once for the movie Innerspace. I like Stewart okay, but I’m really glad I found the Sam Cooke original. It’s smoking. A song about the joys of how music brings diverse people (“here’s a man in evenings clothes….he’s dancing with a chick in slacks”) together. It did, and it does, and hopefully it will forever. Twistin’ the Night Away Written by Sam Cooke Recorded by Sam Cooke From Twistin’ the Night Away, 1962 Man you ought to see her go:

I love music. However, I'm not sure if I've got a chance to hear this song before. Only now.

A coincidence, given that Sam Cooke was the son of a preacher man. Dusty’s song is on my 100 favorites list. MAN, what a voice!!!!

It was a great time for music, and I’m so happy we have it preserved for all time.

Nothing like those great oldies. Even though Sam’s been gone for nearly 58 years we can still enjoy it and introduce kids to his songs. (Unless Rod Stewart beats us to it by covering it. )

See? All I had to do was tell you that Sam Cooke wrote “Another Saturday Night” and off you’d go!
