Remember that character they had in the Hotels dot com commercial a few years ago, “Captain Obvious”? The character is gone (good, that was not a good fit for what they were selling), but if you want to talk about “obvious” when it comes to music sixty years ago, just take a look at who’s showing up today on the list of my ten favorites from 1962…. #9: Good Luck Charm - Elvis Presley The first three weeks you were probably wondering when the King of Rock and Roll would show up. Right where he belongs: in the top ten! Here’s an interesting tidbit of info: people knew where Elvis recorded (Studio B in Nashville), so they would hang out waiting for him. So, RCA would announce someone else was scheduled to record that day. In fact, a “Jim Reeves session” in March 1960 sounded suspiciously like Elvis’s hit “Stuck On You.” Nope, I couldn’t forget Elvis on this countdown. Good Luck Charm Written by Aaron Schroeder and Wally Gold Recorded by Elvis Presley Released as a single, 1962 If I found a lucky penny I’d toss it across the bay (sorry, Bing isn’t working today…the You Tube link does work):

Cool story. My cousin is obsessed with Elvis. There are a few songs I really enjoyed. His voice is/was great.

It’s one of the forgotten many from Elvis.

It was popular in its time. Elvis’s music suffered the same fate as everyone else: a massive catalog, and four songs played.

I agree with you. I don’t think he got enough credit for his voice. Everyone was ga-ga over his gyrations. If you listen to a mid-tempo song like this and the vocal fluctuation he put in it you’ll see just how gifted a singer he was, and there was more to him than shaking his hips.

@FourWalls One of my favorites, one which gives me goose bumps is his performance of "If I can dream". He is wearing a plain full white suit - nothing gaudy, and the range of his voice is awesome. I think the performance was on the '68 comeback concert. I found it on Youtube.

I know it by heart. It is one of my "shower songs". Elvis was my special idol. I loved him from the very begining when he sang for Sun records Blue moon of Kentuck along with That´s all right.
