This Old Tree

I live in my bedroom. I have three Cottonwood trees outside that obliterate my view to Taco Bell and the main drag out here in the late spring and summer months with lovely green leaves. Kids from the neighborhood always seem to find their way to the one dominant tree. I used to yell at them and tell them to get out of the tree. But, one day I realized I was just hot air. To be honest, when I was young I loved to climb trees and I came by it honestly. My mother was a tomboy before me, even breaking an arm more than once climbing in trees. What I don't like about the kids getting in the tree is that there is always one or even two that are just mean as the devil and want to try to destroy anything and everything that they come into contact with. They think it's fun to jump up and down on the slighter branches and see if they can bend them down and break them away. Grr! Some people's kids I tell ya, I just don't understand.......

Kids are restless. They're hyper. But they don't do anything bad if they've enough parental guidance.

Right. When mothers started work outside the home parental guidance went down the tube. Kids are left to their own devices much too much.

@Nakitakona ......Uncontrollable kids need to stay away from me. Had one at my house once years ago now and I made him set outside until his mother got back.

Wow, that's so destructive! I like to just enjoy their shade. It's sad, thisu children weren't taught to respect others property.

I totally agree. Part of what made me so upset with them.

Kids do not listen, you are wasting your time trying to stop them.

I'd be out there telling (showing) them how to bend but not break the smaller branches. I love climbing trees as a child as well. I still do if my lower back allows.

I used to yell to them from my window but, they don't listen so I gave it up. If they get hurt its for Housing to hash out.

I know how you feel since today's kids talk in a way I need an interpreter to explain what they meant to say.

Kids have no respect for someone's property these days. It's not like when you and I were kids.

hahaha it's only natural that small children are like that, they are naughty, like to explore like when we were little

Oh, that's for sure. Laws today forbid that they should get the willow switching I used to get when I would do wrong.
