My Doctor Visit

I had my 3 month check up with the endocrinologist today. I think it went alright. He seemed pretty pleased I guess you could say. They checked an A1c (blood sugar 3 month average) by a finger poke. Never done it that way before. My A1c went down to 6.9 (was 12.1 back in January). So that is a major drop down. Had I been good the whole time, I would probably be back down in the 5 range. The doctor is going to change my meds up a bit. He wants me to try Ozempic (once a week shot) and get rid of one of the pills I take. If that doesn't help (my A1c lower from the carb days) then he will try me on fast acting insulin when I have a carb meal. Otherwise, he was pretty impressed. I was up 4 pounds from my last visit, but down 6 since February. I told him of my goal of getting down to 100 pounds and he said to make small goals....so for the next appointment I should work towards getting down to 170 (that's about 1 pound per week since I go back in 3 months). We'll see how I do over the next 3 months...

Going down to 100 pounds must be done very slowly or you risk to regain what you lose. Also your skin needs to adapt little by little, to avoid wrinkles.

@MommyOfEli2013 - The most I lost were 20 pounds when I was in my mid-30. I do not know why but I was seeing myself as fat, I dropped from 101 pounds to 81, that was not good at all. I am 105 right now.

@LadyDuck Well I have been fat ever since I was about 10 years old....so most of my life. I would love to be at 105 pounds. 81 does seem quite low

Well I am trying. 6.9 is still way too high though.

6.9 is a good reading the A1C, for a diabetic! Good job, Courtney:) Next visit, it will be down further

@MommyOfEli2013 You are within the safe zone, with A1C below 7.

Well 6.9 is not the 5.6 I was at a couple years ago....but it is WAY better than the 12.1 I tested at when I was hospitalized in January with diabetic ketoacidosis. I am hoping to get it down to the 5's by my next appointment....but I keep craving carbs.

@kobesbuddy That is true. Although under 6 would be even better.
