I really admire the way that San Bernadino County resident Vicky Umodu decided that the old saying "That is not my money." convinced her to contact the owners of a couch that she purchased through Craiglist that was delivered to her new home earlier this month. When Vicky saw the couch that was being given away for free on Craiglist, she found out that the previous of the couch gave away the couch due to the death of a member of their family. Vicky showed compassion toward the previous owner of the couch since she could not take money that was found inside of a couch that did not belong to her. Vicky mentioned that it never crossed her mind to take the money that belonged to the deceased who left the money in a couch that had $36,000 dollars instead of leaving with a bank. The family of the deceased was grateful that Vicky contacted them to return the money to them to the point of rewarding her a reward of $2,200 dollars for her honesty. Thank goodness there are some honest people in our world after all.

Makes me wonder why anyone would hide that much money in a couch. They must have been afraid of banks.

@Deepizzaguy I wonder how she came to find the money. It must have been deep inside the couch not to be found before.

@Deepizzaguy Because of this, the real cause of committing crimes is poverty.

@Shavkat You are right since most criminals who steal are saying that they are trying to survive.

You are right since in these tough economic times, some people will resort to stealing money in order to make ends meet.

Wow! That's a lot of money to stash away in a couch. Old people have a tendency to do that, especially if they don't trust banks. That was very honest of Vicky to return the money.

I do remember reading stores of seniors hiding money at home since they either cannot go to a bank or like you said they do not trust banks.

You are right since Vicky knew that the money she found inside of the couch was not hers at all. i like someone who does not steal money from another person just because they possess an item that was given to them by Craiglist.

At least she was rewarded for her honesty. I would not keep the money either/
