How Weird

I have had a phobia about gas stoves since I was in my mid-twenties. I had several bad experiences and just do not care for gas anything. Heating with gas is like not having heat at all. I really don't see where the I had a dream of winning the lottery and buying a new 4-bedroom home. It would be a two-story and be all-electric. I was having so much trouble finding the home of my dreams that had the floor plan I wanted and was all-electric I was thinking I would have one built. All electric. Well, now I am reading that about 50 cities in California and other states such as Oregon and Washington are doing the same thing. All new construction has zero carbon. They want zero-carbon emissions by 2023 on all new infrastructure in those areas. They hope to reduce the carbon footprint in major cities like Los Angelos. So, I may get my dream yet. No more gas. Now, if we could just get car gas prices down. You can read about this here:

Electricity is very pricey. How are they powering these all-electric homes? Wind power, solar?

I don't know. Neither gas or electricity is perfect.

Most of Swiss homes have gas stove and gas heating. In Italy we also had gas since I was born 71 years ago. Never had an accident. Here we are now switching to electric panels as electricity will also become a problem in the near future.

@celticeagle - We asked how much it would cost to convert our gas heating to solar power...$30,000!!! Too expensive. Should the Government give some money as an incentive of a tax deduction we could consider this.

I've always liked cooking with gas and wish I had one now. How will you cook or keep warm in an all-electric house during a power outage?

Me too. I lived in an old trailer and the gas leaked. It scared me so bad each time they filled the tank.

We really need a substitute for gas because the prices of gases are rising. Electricity too is becoming scarce because of coal. I don't know how electricity is generated in your country. In India we really need to have some substitute.

It's getting that way here. We have free solar installation here temporarily. Hope that a lot of people go for it.

@celticeagle Solar electricity is available here too but that won't last for long. Some permanent solution has to be found.

That's a good step to reduce carbon footprint. But the real question is that with all going around electricity might be pricy in future or we even run out of it with it's overuse and production not meeting the demand.

It's natural that you have a phobia about gas stoves as you had several bad experiences with them. In Hong Kong, we now have the choice of using gas, electric or induction stove.
