Am watching the pre-show before the Belmont Stakes horse race today. They are telling about a horrible fire that was caused by lightning back in 2016. It was at the Mercury Equine Center outside Lexington, Kentucky. A stable was burned to the ground. They were only able to save 13 of the 36 thoroughbred horses. The one guy telling the story said that the aftermath, what they saw when they went out to start the clean up was something no one should experience.
My gosh! Those poor animals. I have put the link to the story at the bottom.
A fire at an equine center in Lexington, Kentucky, has left 23 thoroughbred horses dead, including a racehorse that had recently won a $100,000 stakes race and another that had been scheduled to race Monday, according to the property's owner.

That makes me sick to my stomach. I can't imagine what those poor horses went through as the fire and smoke got really bad. I love animals so much.
