My doctor was thrilled with my weight loss. So am I!! I’m also thrilled to be shining the spotlight on the late, great Roger Miller, thanks to a suggestion by @xander6464 (Greg). In this two-part countdown I’m listing my favorites he sang, as well as favorites that he wrote. Here’s today’s song that some of you might know.
#8: Husbands and Wives - Everly Brothers
And you’re thinking, “Everly Brothers?? Don’t you mean Brooks & Dunn?” No. I’m not overly fond of their rendition. The Everlys (who recorded the song some 25 years before Brooks & Dunn) put the quiet pain into their version that Miller did with his original recording. Divorce is not a happy subject, and the Everlys put that fact into their performance.
I read a review of this song, praising how Miller said an awful lot with very few words. Yes he did. And the Everly Brothers delivered it perfectly.

@rebelann — I had my own radio, and you could always find me in my room, listening to the Grand Ole Opry every Friday and Saturday night!

It was a hit for Roger himself in 1966, then the Brooks and Dunn hit in the 90s, so it’s been around a number of times!

Since it was the Everly Brothers , I wanted to listen to the song; but after numerous attempts, I gave up. My internet is running very slowly today. I don't know this one.

Yeah, I get back to the real country stuff and it’ll be going 800 miles an hour. It doesn’t like you.

@FourWalls I was able to play it today. Didn't sound quite like the Everly Brothers. Wasn't too bad anyway.

Roger had a brilliant way with words, and I think that got lost in the “Do-Wacka-Do” humor.
