This Is Why...

This is why gas prices will not come down any time soon.
Because Joe Biden reversed Trump's energy policies shutting down the pipeline and essentially shutting down U.S. oil.
Because Biden then blamed Covid, the supply chain and the labor shortage for much of the gas hikes in the beginning. All things that would have happened, yes. Woudl have had an impact, yes. But not the impact it had if we had not shut down U.S. oil.
Because Biden then blamed the Ukraine invasion for higher gas prices.
Because Biden came out and said, "Hey, we'll open the strategic reserves," and then he said, "We'll put a hiatus on the 18 cent per gallon federal gas tax." Two options that would NOT do anything to relieve pain at the pump.
Because now Biden has come out to scold the oil companies demanding higher production and accusing them of taking too many profits.
NONE of these things are the issue because ENERGY policy clearly drives the price of oil. We saw it with gas prices under Obama. We saw gas prices get cut in HALF under Trump, and we now see RECORD highs under Biden who's energy policy is almost identical to Obama's.
This is why gas prices will not come down any time soon.
Because if the PROBLEM is not willing to actually be openly and honestly recognized and addressed...
We will simply get more finger pointing and kicking of the can, and meanwhile Americans will pay more for EVERYTHING because everything is tied to oil in our economy.
No one is buying your BS, Joe. Get to work! America is waiting for you to be the hero to the average working class American you have always said you were.
Or was that just more BS?

Our President should know the rule that "Only cowards blame others for their failures."

This is something that democrats do well though. Have you ever noticed that? Trump did not waste time blaming others, he just went ahead and fixed it. That's not to say he NEVER blamed anyone. But you could accept the passing of blame more when it was not the only answer to every problem you can't solve.

It's a crying shame that we even let our government dictate energy policy. Yes, I know it's a necessary evil, but let the market forces determine supply and demand, not energy policy and politics.

@porwest No, it doesn’t, especially when just a few years ago we were energy independent. I don’t understand how these politicians think that the decisions they are making now make any sense for the strength and security of our country.

@moffittjc Neither do I. Especially when the ideas and policies of the democrat party and this White House are very much the reason we have this runaway inflation and gas prices—all of which impacts the non affluent the most, which flies in the face of the democrats constantly saying they are for the little guy. They are screwing the hell out of the little guy right now.
Makes me think back to the comment Biden made not so long ago that "they (the republicans) want to put y'all back in chains." He was making a racial argument of course. An odd one considering the democrat party put "them" in chains in the first place and the republicans freed them from them. But that's for another day.
The chains right now are the ones strapping the American people financially with this inflation and the cost of gas.

It is one of those few areas where I tend to see some benefit to at least some regulation. But certainly when it comes to oil prices skyrocketing and having to rely on foreign oil, I just don't think the policy we have now makes a whole lot of sense.

I wonder if he promised all this or someone else did on his behalf, and told him what to say to make himself look good. Because why would someone really be this stupid? I'll be happy if someone with any brains takes over next term.

Blaming won't solve the problem especially the skyrocketing of oil prices in the world market. We're also affected by it but our government didn't control it.

I saw on the news yesterday (forget where it happened) but a gas station employee screwed up and put the decimal point in the wrong place making the price of gas at the pump .69c or something like that, causing the gas station to lose $16,000. He was fired of course.
It's very easy to put blame on Covid or something else when it comes to high gas prices. Why not get to the root of the problem and fix it?
