The Age Gap and Widowhood

According to data worldwide, more women become widows in comparison to men becoming widowers. Two of the main reasons cited for this is that (1) --Women have a higher life expectancy compared to men. (2) - the age gap between couples -- men marrying women who are 10, 20, 30 years their junior. Won't it be much better then if couples are closer in age when they marry , and men took better care of their health.? Then you would find more couples growing old together and leaving this world - not together, but at least not years before each other. Is there a big gap in age between yourself and spouse? Would you marry someone who is much older or younger ? Are you a widow or widower? How are you coping? Today, June 23 is "International widows' Day". This year's theme is : "Invisible Women, Invisible Problems". Pixabay image

I think that none of this matters in the long run, as people can die even if they are extremely healthy is what I mean. Sometimes your time is come and that is that.

Indeed, like l said one can be perfectly healthy and die by accident, natural disaster or gunshot. However we can't just relax and say : "Oh, anything could happen l could die tomorrow by any of the above mentioned ,so what is the point of striving for a healthy body. " ln my view we should do what is to be done in spite of - it is also very possible that one will live to be 100 or more.

Ha, ha. I prefer the reason mentioned in the post , but seriously, that could be a minor reason as well.

Both my exes were older than me. (They're both still alive, as far as I know.) I always dated older women. *shrug*

Some younger men are attracted to older women - and older men to younger women. Data shows that a much, much higher percentage of widowers will remarry when compared to widows. A much smaller percent of widows do. How much older were your exes?

@DaddyEvil The first was a bit much - but 7 years quite okay. Anyway age does not matter when there is true love.

I don`t think it is about age gap. We really can`t control or know when our life will end.

No we can't know ,but we can take steps which would make it easier on both sides. - like being closer in age.

@Kandae11 I would tend to agree. You hear more women talk about dieting than men.

According to the research men do not pay as much attention to their health like women do.

Three years younger, that's just about right. However, whether male or female the reality is that some of us will die young.

That's what the research has found - more widows than widowers. You and Vince look perfect together.
