Keeping Your Home Cool in The Up Coming Heat Wave

I am reading up on ways to stay cool and keep the apartment cool in the upcoming heat wave. You know July and August are going to be hot, if not blazing. So I will share what I have found:
* Repair doors and windows so you are sure no hot air, dust, etc. is getting into your home.
* Cook wisely. Find new ways of cooking items such as baked potatoes. The microwave or air fryer is a great way to accomplish this. This is a great time for sandwiches, cheese plates, and other such foods that don't need to be cooked.
* Save those chores that are more strenuous and/or outdoors for the cooler hours of the evening.
* Close up the house during the heat of the day and open it up when the sun goes down and it begins to cool down outdoors.
Any other ideas?

@LadyDuck .......I hope you continue to have cool mornings. I hate it when it doesn't even cool down at night.

If you have AC, use it. It might cost more, but it'll help keep the place cool. You can raise the temp at night and lower it in the day to keep the house comfy. Summers can be insane, so budgeting for it ahead of time will allow you to use that Ac.

I only run the AC when it is just too hot. I have a power bill where we pay the same amount each month. I can't remember what they call it.

@celticeagle The name can change based on the power company. FPL (Florida Power and Light) calls it budget billing.

@kaylachan .......Didn't mean the name of the company, but the name of the program. The power company here is IPCo. (Idaho Power Company)..

If you live in a house with an attic, an attic fan will help keep the house cooler.

The work force of fans and ACs is badly needed.
