More flowers

My yellow day lilies began blooming last week. Years ago I had four plants but they were pulled out by a young man that thought they were weeds after the blooms had stopped. Now I have one and maybe two plants. They will spread but they don't spread very quickly here for some reason. Buds are starting to come out on my rust colored day lilies but I expect it will be another week or more before those are blooming too. Pic taken a couple of days ago from my front porch.

@MarshaMusselman I already cut many of my gladioli. For the moment are all orange, I hope to have some of other colors soon.

@LadyDuck I have a lot of bulbs to try to get into the ground this fall. Now that I'm not working so much maybe I can get it done. Not sure if I have any glass though but they are beautiful flowers.

Thanks Anna. They are just beginning. Only one side is starting to bloom. I should be able to get better photos later.

Mine finally bloomed last year. They are not in a good spot and are not spreading how I hoped. And Hubby mowed them a couple weeks ago! They survived and recovered well, but I don't think I'll get any blooms this year.

Even though my 'garden' had more weeds than flowers my lawn service doesn't mow to close to where the flowers are. Through the years I've tried to make a decent definition between the lawn and the garden. I don't know if I'll ever have it more full of flowers than weeds though.

@paigea I don't consider it a perennial problem but a garden bed problem. I probably never properly got all the weeds out when I first started and they come back to bug me ever since then.

@MarshaMusselman That is the trouble with perennials. Lots of weeding.

I'm sure they are all pretty but the rust-coloured ones would be particularly so.

I like the rust colored ones the best too. I'm not sure if it's because they used to be more common in ditches than gardens or because they are larger or why exactly.

@MarshaMusselman Flowering plants create an inner happiness among the beholders and I'm one of them.

@MarshaMusselman more blooming flowers; more happiness they could bring to beholders.

@MarshaMusselman I suggest, you can put some warning signs nearby not to pull out those flowers.

Yes. When it's done blooming the stalks turn yellow and he mistook that for a weed.

Perhaps the soil you planted your lilies in needs more nutrients. Have you ever thought about fertilizing?

They grow fine once it gets warmer here.
