When those dog days of summer arrive, the heat can be extremely oppressive. So, even though I'm not a fan of "windy" days, when a "Summer Breeze" arrives to cool things a bit, I'm very appreciative. Which brings me to our summertime songs for today. Those associated with the wind. Here are a few tunes with a "Wind of Change" designed just to cool you off on a hot summer day... Enjoy the breeze! Comments, musings, and your own trivia welcome... 1. Seals & Crofts- "Summer Breeze" -A great feel-good song about enjoying the pleasures of life with the ones you love. "Summer breeze, makes me feel fine, blowing through the jasmine in my mind..." Fun facts: Jim Seals and Dash Crofts were later members of the group The Champs who had a #1 novelty hit called "Tequila" in 1958. Jim Seals is the brother of Dan Seals, who was "England Dan" in the duo England Dan and John Ford Coley. 2. Windy- "The Association" -Although the song isn't about the weather it's upbeat sunshine pop sound makes this #1 tune a favorite summer listen for me. The Association had quite a few hits including "Cherish" (#1), "Never My Love" (#2), and "Along Comes Mary" (#7). Anyone like these 60's classics? TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. Let's see how many answers you know. See if you can guess this third selection and the bonus... Name today's tune, artist or facts: 3. Ol' Blue Eyes sang this tune about a "summer love affair" that came and went like a "gust of wind." He recalls sadly how " All summer long we sang a song and then we strolled that golden sand, Two sweethearts and the _______________________. Fun facts: This German Love song became the "Chairman of the Board's" signature tune, but he wasn't the first to record it. Wayne ("Danke Schoen") Newton beat him to the punch. -Can you name this Italian Crooner whose recording of "New York, New York" associated him with the city that never sleeps. And his version is played at every Yankees game. Bonus points for naming his summer song above! Extra Bonus Questions: If you watched the music video carefully you might be able to answer these 2 fun facts: A. One of the musicians was playing the guitar, but the other one was playing a unique string type instrument. Can you name it? B. During Seals and Crofts beautifully played performance of their summer song a caption displayed showing which state both of the artists were from. Can you name the state? C. Bob Dylan wrote a song which had a breezy title. It wasn't a hit for him but Peter, Paul, and Mary's version reached #2 on the charts. Can you name that song? If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as James Taylor would say "You've Got A Friend" if you need a helping hand. Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition soon. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com

Is that a balalaika that one guy is playing? I saw something like that in that movie Dr Zhivago. It has a neat sound for sure. Ole blue eyes, Frank Sinatra. Dang those Texans. Never listened to PP&M much so can't name that tune.

Didn't Barbara Mandel play the mandolin? I don't know much about musical instruments.

@rebelann I remember her playing the banjo. She was a multi-talented musician, and she did say according to Wikipedia, she could play the mandolin too. Barbara was a very skilled steel guitar player earning the nickname the 'Princess of Steel." Many folk and country artists seem to use the mandolin and the above-named instruments in their songs.

No, but similar to the mandolin, which the artist was playing. The Bouzouki has a longer neck and a a sharp metallic sound, reminiscent of a mandolin but pitched lower. Not a bad effort and thanks for the inquiry Complete Trivia Answers: (#3) Frank Sinatra- "Summer Wind" Bonus... A. Mandolin B. Texas C. Blowin' in the Wind

Yes, England Dan (Jim's brother) & John Ford Coley had that soft rock hit "I'd Really Like to See You Tonight." That's a terrific love song, one of my favs! A Buzuki sounds like a real "groovy" instrument, lol. I had to look that one up! But alas, Crofts was playing a simple Mandolin on that song. As they say in 60's slang, you did a "boss" of a job on the quiz Complete Trivia Answers: (#3) Frank Sinatra- "Summer Wind" Bonus... A. Mandolin B. Texas C. Blowin' In The Wind

Great summertime song by Frank! That was off the "Strangers in the Night" album, another terrific track recorded by Sinatra. Awesome job on the quiz The instrument he was playing was the mandolin. Here's another tune by the duo. The mandolin has a different shape from the ukulele and has 8 strings. The ukulele has only 4.

I remember the song "Windy" and "Summer Breeze" when they were broadcast on the former Southern Command Network (SCN) in the former Canal Zone in Panama. Those songs are wonderful.
