Sending Letters to Soldiers

Good morning! I have spent the morning writing letters to 3 deployed soldiers through the Soldiers Angels project. Two of them are women and one is a guy.
I can't even imagine what it is like for them to be deployed somewhere far away, away from their families and since I like to write, this works out well for me.
Don't forget, if you want to support a deployed soldier and you live in the US you can find out all about it by Googling Soldiers Angels. The soldiers really do appreciate getting mail. It is a bright spot in their day.
Have you ever written to a deployed soldier? Did they enjoy getting mail?

Really? I get the sense that most of these soldiers don't really enjoy it but are doing their duty. Did you appreciate getting mail?

@Kouponkaren I did play postal chess. I enjoyed all the time to read and quiet. Still, it takes all sorts!

I hope what I write them makes their day. I think just actually getting mail makes their day.

It must be very tough, to say the least. I used to write to soldiers during the Vietnam War.

I sure hope they do. I think any mail is good mail and just hearing their name called at mail call probably makes them feel good.

Thank you for reminding me about this. I should have remembered. My cousin's daughter works for the USO.

@Kouponkaren The cousin I mentioned yesterday - her grandfather (my grandfather's nephew) won our nation's third Green Beret EVER. And the Lt. Colonel is still alive. He is 93 and gave us quite a health scare earlier this month. But for now, he is on the mend. And his medical team is doing all they can to carry him through to 94. So, I am all for supporting our nation's military in any way possible as long as it means building it and our soldiers up and keeping it and our soldiers strong.

You are most welcome. There is a great number of soldiers on the site now waiting to be adopted. Some are only short-term, as in their mail stop date is 9/30 but you have to stop writing to them 28 days in advance because they may be shipped out earlier than that day. That means people that adopt them would only need to write to them until the beginning of September. It's a good way to get your feet wet if you want to just try one and see what you think about adopting a soldier. A lot of the other ones have mail stop dates from 11/2022 - 3/2023.
