I wonder what happened to my mother´s Corelle dishes.

My mother had a set of Corelle dishes for 12 people. It was complete, including cups and all dishes for tea. I thought that they would be mine when my mother passed as both of my siblings had their own plus other big china sets. But I was in Aruba for 2 weeks when my brother decided to give away things. Everything disappeared, including good paintings and rugs. I asked for the Corelle dishes and he said I could have them. Only the sea set was left and 1 big dish out of 12. I was more shocked than angry. And after some time, when Dixie told me that she wanted to have a Corelle chinaware because they were so light, I told her about what I had left and did she want them and she was glad to accept them. I wrote this post because the last time I was with my husband in the US, I saw some Corelle dishware but my husband said then that we could not afford them. And today I saw again them on those ads they place in the laptop and discovered that they were very expensive. I´m glad that Dixie wanted them. She is more my family than my own blood.

Your brother did you wrong. I can relate to that very well. I'm sorry you didn't get the dishes you had asked for. Some things are sentimental. I had a moss rose tea set that I stored in my MIL's closet right after we got married. We had moved into a small two bedroom home and I was limited with storage space. After our new house was built and we moved in, I went to get the few boxes of things I had stored and the tea set box was missing. I don't know who took it. It wasn't my MIL. It would have been one of the sister in laws. I have a good idea of which one--the same one that ended up with my MIL's cross that was promised to me by my MIL. It is sad how some people are so selfish.

I have been blessed to have been "adopted" by one of my friends and her family. For an unknown reason, my blood family sort of disowned me after my BIL decided he did not like me.

My brother gave all the oil paintings to one of my cousins. He did that in the 2 weeks I was away from Chile. He also did other things like that. It seems that he wanted to punish me.

Perhaps your mother gave them to someone. Corelle brand seems to have come back in popularity.

My mother was too ill in her last years to give anything to anybody.

Your brother did the same as my brother. He gave away things when my mother was still in the hospital without consulting me first. Jerks!

After that, I have polite and short talks with him. I call him for his birthday. Yet I go to birthdays with my adopted family.

@marguicha - I am just polite, but I avoid to meet my brother and he does not seem to care to see me.

Your brother should have kept the Corella dishware for you, I am sorry they got lost somewhere or were given away. Do you think they might turn up or are they really gone?

I hardly ever talk to my brother now and would not ask for them. I decided I´d forget about it all.
