I wish I could go back to where I was

that was from 2015 to 2018, in which I started working and finished my work contract. Honestly, I really enjoyed working there earning enough for me and my family. I stayed alone as my family lived in our home town taking care of the kids who were still studying in Junior and Senior High School. Two and a Half year felt so quick when I finally realized that I had to leave the office. How did you handle the situation when you knew that you had to leave your workplace as the contract was over? The photo of me and my coworkers. Which is me?

Most people in the US don't work from contract to contract. We're hired by a company and, assuming the conditions and pay are good, remain working there until we retire, are fired for underperformance of our job or we quit for various reasons.

Yes for those working as a civil servant or employed by state-owned company, they will be retired when they reach the age of 58.

@yanzalong Some of us retire from a company at 58 but most retire at 62 and receive a pension for the rest of our lives.

When I was working, I was hired on a permanent basis. Except for underperformance which I could be fired or I myself decided to take up another job, I could work for the company until retired. In Hong Kong, there are lots of contract jobs, Some are renewable. I would say that if your contract was over and you had to leave your workplace, there's not much you could do. Find another job. Are jobs in your place mainly on contract basis?

A friend of mine organized a farewell party to say goodbye to me. Two and a half years seemed like yesterday.

We dont have a contract system here. We are hired and work till we get retired. In between people leave for various reasons like a hike in their salary, good company, etc. There are very instances when a company fires a person for underperformance or less profit. And BTW what are you doing now? Have you searched a new job? Which one are you in the picture? I cannot figure it out.

Of course but as you know getting jobs nowadays are like getting blood from a stone. Many despair in the midst of their search for the jobs.
