1982 Songs: Dirty Laundry

There are a couple of people who have songs on both the 1982 and 1972 lists, which shows their staying power. This guy is on both lists, in a way. That means he’s old, too. You’ll see his old band on the 1972 list. Meanwhile, let’s go back 40 years for this one. Dirty Laundry - Don Henley Don Henley is such a (insert unpleasant term for male body part here) that I shouldn’t even use this. He doesn’t want anyone listening to his music on You Tube. But, as I said, this song is forty years old, and that means there are two generations of people walking around who may never have heard this song. And if they hear it, they may like it and buy it and put more money in Henley’s already bulging bank account (I read a few years ago that, at that time, he was worth $250 million….and that was before the latest overpriced “Don Henley and Friends Posing as the Eagles” tour). Enough of that. This is a great song and worth the problems he’s put me through to post it here. Back in ‘82 Henley was angry at the yellow journalism showing on TV with things like cameramen chasing people who’d just learned their loved ones had died in a plane crash through the airport in Las Vegas or the way Judy Jacklin was treated when her husband, John Belushi, died. Now, just turn on any news outlet and you’ll see this song’s premise has only gotten worse.
