Family problems. The big C

Today my daughter Claudia called me and told me that my sister had called her to tell her that after a new scan, my BIL, who had had lately cancer surgery, had shown some new problems in his lungs. They were going to go to London where part of his family is but now everything is postponed and they will stay in Santiago while several new tests are made. My sister knows that I am here for anything she wants. But my BIL fought a one side battle with me many years ago and I can only say I love them through whatsapp. I´m sorry for my sister. She has been a wonderful sister for many years in spite of all this. And I´m not too sure that this wil have a happy ending. Cancer is one of the worst illness one can have, specially if it metastasis.

Cancer is a critical diagnosis, for your BIL. I'm glad your sister has you and Claudia, to see her through this very hard time she's facing:(

The medical field is coming up with better treatments all the time. Try to get an appointment at a cancer center where they are experts in cancer treatment and research..

He already is in the best of those centers in Chile and already had surgery at the end of last year.

I've very sorry to hear this. It can be very difficult to maintain a relationship under such circumstances. I'm glad you and your sister have managed to do this.

@JudyEv He decided not to have any sort of relation with me several years ago. But I still talk with my sister by phone and would not want anything bad to happen to him.

I'm sorry to hear about these sad developments. Every time I read or hear of something similar, it brings to mind my mother, who also experienced the same sickness. Before her body gave up, she endured for ten years. Sincerely hoping that something can yet be done to assist him. But I also agree with you that the fact that it has spread to other places of the body is normally a very bad omen.

I am very much worried. With these ailments, we forget the family troubles. I am sorry for my sister who has had to come and see me alone for years. My BIL had a couple of surgeries for this (bowel cancer) but now it seems that he has metastasis elsewhere. He was very thin the last time I saw him.

@marguicha I told nothing to my MIL and I did not want to worry my husband, but I knew she did not look good.

C word shakes the world around you. Keeping your sister and brother in law in prayers and thoughts. It's good that you are there for them. One needs a lot more of emotional and mental support than the medical treatment. Take care

@arunima25 Leticia is a maid I had for over 20 years. She did not let my friends use my bathroom and had the one upstairs for them. And she almost sprayed them with Lysol when they came
