Seeing the country from the back of a horse

In the collage are some more shots from the endurance horse ride that we attended recently in York, Western Australia. The venue was a race course and the race track itself was beautiful, soft, spongy grass. It is positioned at the base of a high hill which provided a great backdrop.
Once the riders left the track, they travelled on farmland, including alongside a private air strip. They also saw hot-air balloons as they rode along. Some riders like to buy photos that show the country they travel through, even if they can’t see themselves very well.
At the checkpoints which are sited every ten kilometres, there is water, hay and carrots for the horses, and water and lollies/sweets for the riders.
The lower right photo was taken by Vince. He usually goes out on the track somewhere while I take the photos in the vet ring and, with luck, I'm able to get a few shots of riders going out on their rides or returning.

My back is messed up beyond all repair (what we called in the Navy “FUBAR”
) so I can’t do it anymore, but I’ll tell you something: there is NOTHING quite like going horseback riding.
I went for a ride with a stable company in the Smoky Mountains many years ago, and it was worth every pain I had in my back for three days afterward.
Lovely photos, as usual.

Nice photos. How long do these rides usually last? Is there a purpose to them...like is it for fundraising or just for fun?

The endurance riding is a sport/hobby. Occasionally there might be an individual who does a ride to raise funds. Usually, they can pick from 10 km, 20 km, 40 km, 80km and occasionally 160 km (roughly 6, 12, 25, 50 and 100 miles)
